OTCC Mission Statement
The OTCC unites clinicians committed to strengthening occupational therapy’s position within the medical model and broader healthcare infrastructure. We advocate for reimbursement, recognition, and policy inclusion that accurately represent our scientific and educational training across the cognitive, psychosocial, and physical domains of care. Our goal is to ensure that occupational therapy is recognized, respected, and reimbursed in proportion to its demonstrated impact on health, function, and participation across the lifespan.
Core Principle 1: Clinician-Led Innovation and Translation
Core Principle 2: Integration of Cognitive, Psychosocial, and Physical Domains
Core Principle 3: Reimbursement that Reflects Education and Skill
Core Principle 4: Protection of Professional Autonomy
Core Principle 5: Evidence-Based, Transparent Practice
“The Colors of Curative Occupation”
Green — Physical Medicine
The pulse of healing, steady and sure,
Hands that mend, science that endures.
Royal Blue — Psychology
The mind’s deep current, complex and steep,
Where thought, behavior, and purpose keep.
Purple — Sociology
The call to adapt, the courage to lead,
Through advocacy’s voice, we plant each new seed.
Slate — Occupation
The balance of being, the doing that heals,
Where meaning restores and the whole self feels.
Together they turn, four loops in relation—
Body, mind, society, occupation.
United they stand, both timeless and pure—
The colors that represent both care and cure.
Background on OTCC Logo
The logo of the United States Occupational Therapy Clinician Coalition (OTCC-US) embodies the continuum of care and cure that defines rehabilitation science. Its four interlocking loops represent the integration of medicine (green), psychology (royal blue), sociology (purple), and occupation (slate)—the four domains essential to restoring human function. At the center stands the Rod of Asclepius, symbolizing the medical legitimacy and scientific foundation of occupational therapy within healthcare. This design draws inspiration from the Institute of Medicine’s Enabling–Disabling Process model, which describes disability as an interaction between the person and the environment, influenced by physical, psychological, and social factors. OTCC-US extends that model by positioning occupation as the active, enabling force that bridges these domains; the process through which healing occurs and participation is restored. The flowing, continuous loops signify that the relationship between body, mind, and society is dynamic, interdependent, and lifelong.

Join us for the first meeting of the United States Occupational Therapy Clinician Coalition (OTCC-US), a national movement dedicated to strengthening the visibility, credibility, and professional standing of occupational therapy within the medical model. We’ll discuss: (1) Who we are and why OTCC-US was founded (2) Our purpose: to unify and support clinicians across all settings (3) Our next steps: visibility, reimbursement, and recognition in healthcare systems This coalition is for clinicians who believe occupational therapy must be represented as a scientific, evidence-driven profession. Our sole mission is for clinical visibility, fair representation in clinical practice, and professional advocacy and integrity within the medical model. If you share these values and are ready to contribute, we invite you to attend and get involved.
